Overview

How I got started

I grew up riding BMX with my brother, we rode our bikes everywhere. When I was sixteen I started my first job at a bike shop and bought a hardtail. Two years later I started school at Cal Poly SLO, competed in my first race, and have been loving it ever since. It`s a great sport.

Goals for the Future

I would like to enter the semi-pro ranks, so I can ride with guys significantly faster than me. I love to learn from others, see different ways of doing things, and just have fun on my bike. I want to win a race though, be the fastest guy in my group, I think that would be a great accomplishment.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I just finished up my degree in Finance at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and have landed an awesome job working for Specialized!  I live in Morgan Hill these days where I get to ride early every day.  Working full time makes it more difficult to hit the dirt but I still give it a rip when I can.  My parents are still big supporters of my competitive nature and my brother has made the big time, racing Pro for X-Fusion this year.  Should be a good time!

Describe your style...

I started out riding hardtails, I`m all about the smooth line. I started riding full DH rigs three years ago and am still adjusting to the notion of pinning it. I try to be as smooth as possible, avoiding or soaking up the hits. And I never ride how I race. Races are special and scary for me because I don`t usually ride on the edge. But during races I try to let it go a bit.

Why do you compete?

I think competition brings out the rare side of people. You can never know by looking at someone what kind of competitor they are going to be. I get a kick at seeing people do well and thinking I would have never guessed. I love being that person too, races can almost always promise a surprise.

Competitive Highlights

2002- Parkfield Classic was my first race, won the sport class on my hardtail.
2005- Sea Otter Classic, 3rd in expert downhill (I was shocked)
2005- Cal Poly Pomona, 6th collegiate A`s (not bad when you go to school with a hald-dozen pro/semi-pro`s)
2005- Norba Nationals, 22nd expert downhill, crashed really hard but a super fun race
2006- Sea Otter Classic, 4th expert DH, 4th expert MX, 5th expert DS, pretty good weekend
2006- Firestone Classic, 5th expert DH (I fell in my second run, course was a blast though!)
